The Alexandra and , Eildon and District Lapidary club was established July 23 1974. Sixteen people attended a meeting at the Thornton Hall with all agreeing that the club be formed.
Office bearers
- Chairman: Mr Parsons was nominated as Chairman until Roy Heap became President.
- President: Vacant, Roy Heap was nominated for President but initially declined until a later date, he was then nominated as Vice President.
- Vice President: Roy Heap
- Junior Vice Presidents: Mr Walker and Mrs Polderman
- Secretary: Stuart Mintern
- Assistant Secretary Frank Hillman
- Treasurer Mr Craig
Meetings were held at the Thornton hall until September 23rd 1975, from 28 October 1975 the meetings were held at the car club rooms in Alexandra. In July 1980 the Car Club and the Lapidary club met to clarify the clubs position of tenure and after negotiations between the two clubs a formal letter from the car club on 24/11/1981 officially saw the Alexandra, Eildon district Lapidary club take of the club rooms.
At a meeting held on 26/5/1981 the club considered holding a rock swap and gem fair in February 1982 and on 22/9/1981 it was agreed that the rock swap be held at Willow Park Thornton (Tumbling Waters) on 28/02/1982. This has since been an annual event for the club.
